Aviation Resources and Consulting Services (ARCS Aviation), LLC of Cookeville, TN is known for providing interactive multimedia instruction and digital learning content using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as well as augmented and virtual reality methods. The company’s experience and stellar reputation in providing cutting-edge technology to its clients, particularly those in the U.S. military, has led to multiple SBIR awards over the past few years.

Most recently, ARCS Aviation was awarded an almost $2 million Direct-to-Phase II SBIR contract by the U.S. Army to address the training needs of Army parachute riggers. Parachute riggers ensure the safety of paratroopers by inspecting, testing and packing parachutes, as well as the extraction and release systems and all other associated components of the parachute system. Under this award, ARCS Aviation will develop an app to enable parachute riggers to seek help or training remotely by utilizing Extended Reality (XR) technology. The app also uses computer vision (CV) to develop scalable training models to help the riggers accomplish tasks successfully.

This ARCS solution builds on prior successes with defense agencies, continuing the mission to improve operational readiness through immersive solutions. The system will not only benefit the Army, but other branches of the Department of Defense (DoD) facing similar issues. You can read about ARCS previous success with SBIR awards in their previous success story here.

According to Barjes Alotaibi, Founder and CEO of ARCS Aviation, “We are proud to contribute positively to the DoD innovation vision, allowing the U.S. to keep ahead of its competitors and adversaries. I’m very proud of our team and their willingness to take on the most challenging topics and come up with solutions.”

Founded in 2012, the company quickly became a client of the APEX Accelerator (then known as PTAC). Barjes says, “The APEX Accelerator was instrumental in our success! APEX personnel helped us through the lengthy process of preparing to work with the federal government. They helped us register in SAM, obtain CAGE Codes, as well as help us review and refine our capability statement. The APEX accelerator is an invaluable resource to any small business out there that is trying to get into federal contracting.”

East Tennessee APEX Accelerator Counselor Jutta Bangs said, “Barjes is a visionary leader providing the strategic direction for the company. At the same time, he never loses sight of the basics to ensure that the business is positioned for continued growth and success. He is always very progressive and proactive in preparing for upcoming compliance requirements to enable continued business relationships with DoD. The company is a shining example of a business that started with the very basics of government contracting and has grown to become a leader in providing innovative solutions to DoD.”
