Manhattan Legacy Service, a trusted provider of specialized professional services to the nuclear industry, has been awarded the 2024 Small Business of the Year Award by Consolidated Nuclear Services (CNS). This prestigious recognition highlights the company’s dedication and success in supporting government contracts and delivering exceptional service in the complex nuclear materials industry.

Founded in August 2016 by Diana West, Manhattan Legacy Service (MLS) was born out of a need to bridge the gap created by the retirement of experienced employees in critical industries. The company offers a range of services, including engineering, material accounting, counterintelligence, and security escorts with Special Compartmented Information clearances, specializing in nuclear materials like uranium and lithium.

Diana West expressed her gratitude, saying, "This award is a testament to the dedication of our employees and the value we bring to CNS. We are honored to receive this recognition and are excited for the opportunities it may bring for continued growth."

The Tennessee APEX Accelerator has been a key partner in MLS's success since the company’s inception. Diana first connected with TN APEX through Jutta Bangs, and over the years, the program has provided invaluable support, including guidance on SAM registration, SBA Profile assistance, and more recently, achieving NIST 800-171 cybersecurity compliance. The partnership between MLS and APEX has been instrumental in helping the company navigate the complexities of government contracting and remain competitive in the marketplace.

“Jutta has been wonderful in guiding us in the right direction and providing us with critical information in a timely manner,” said West. “APEX has been an incredible resource for our business, and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”

Jutta Bangs, APEX Counselor, nominated Manhattan Legacy Service for the award and praised the company’s strategic growth and resilience. “Diana has been very diligent in building relationships and growing her business in emerging areas. The company’s inclusion in the Mentor-Protégé program with Y-12 is a great accomplishment, and their team structure and communication have been critical to their success.”

Looking ahead, West hopes the recognition will raise awareness of Manhattan Legacy Service’s capabilities and open new doors for further growth and expansion.
